Dr Neil Perera is an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist based in Ilford, Essex. He is currently practising as a Substantive Consultant Rheumatologist at the King George Hospital in Ilford, Essex, part of the Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Perera graduated from the University of Colombo Sri Lanka in 1992 and undertook his initial training in Sri Lanka. He joined his current hospital as a junior rheumatologist in 2005 and progressed to become a Substantive Consultant Rheumatologist, having obtained GMC specialist registration in Rheumatology.

Dr Perera investigates and treats all forms of rheumatological conditions, and his areas of interests are rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, polymyalgia rheumatica, SLE, gout, soft-tissue rheumatism, and fibromyalgia.

Outside of his work, Dr Perera enjoys music and cricket. He is a musician, plays the guitar at a professional level and has performed with renowned Sri Lankan singers who came on tour to perform in the UK.
